Considering Relocating Your Place of Business? - 101

There are many reasons for relocating part or all of your office or company. Perhaps your company has grown and needs more space, or the lease is going to expire and you are looking for a different environment, or moving to a completely different city or state. Relocating a business is much like relocating from a home.

Local Movers, Long Distance Movers, Commercial Movers

Considering an office move is exciting, bringing a change of scenery, new location, and a renewed determination to improve business performance. Along with this fresh start, a commercial move, just as a home move brings to mind some challenges. Never fear, with careful planning and communication, Earl's Moving Company is there with you every step of the way. Moving local or a short distance may sound easier than a long distance move. In some ways it may be. However, everything still needs to be packed and loaded, so organization is a key to success.

Begin thinking of a time frame. How soon would you like to move? Check the exit terms of your existing lease carefully. Also begin thinking about a moving budget.

Some things to consider are:
  • Move in costs to a new office space
  • Renovations if any are needed
  • IT costs
  • Actual relocating costs
  • Downtime in business during the move
The first step is to locate a new office space. When determining the future home of your business, whether local or long distance, consider your employees. Depending on the distance of the move, hopefully your most valuable employees will not be negatively impacted by a new drive, be able to commute, or even relocate if you are moving your office long distance. Communicate with them, sharing your desire to move and ask for their input to discover and possibly meet their needs.

Decide what type and how much office space you would prefer; a move in ready building, or a place to renovate and customize.  This will determine the amount of time you need to allow before moving. A location that is already outfitted with everything needed; a server room, cables, sockets, etc. makes it easy to get moved and right back to work. A general contractor is almost a necessity for a completely empty space to ensure the office is adequately cabled with sufficient power outlets in the right locations and all the modifications are completed on time and on budget.

As you are touring possible buildings, look around at the surroundings. Notice parking conditions, housing if employees may be relocating, hotels for possible overnight guests, restaurants and even shopping.

Office relocation is an exciting time, looking forward to new spaces, change of scenery and perhaps growth for your company. Bonded and insured, Earl's Moving Company is professional and experienced. Contact the friendly team for an affordable quote.

Fabulous Reasons to Move to Alabaster in December

Local Moving Company, Long Distance Moving CompanyEarl's Moving Company enjoys moving people and businesses home to Alabaster. A small town with all the conveniences of a big city, Alabaster is the perfect place to call home and raise your family, or retire and all of the stages between. There are year-round events for everyone. December brings on the Christmas festivities. If you are blessed enough to live or work in our friendly city, planning to move, or just want to visit, December is a great month to get out and about, meeting friends and neighbors. Some activities this month include:
  • The Alabaster Beautification Board recognizes home owners each year who go above and beyond decorating their houses for the Christmas season. Click here for a list and plan your route, gather your friends and make some hot chocolate for a fun evening of celebrating Christmas.
  • Young, young at heart and all ages in between will enjoy Santa riding through their neighborhood Christmas Eve. Beginning at 1:00 pm, be ready to see the jolly fellow on your very own street. Click here for a guide of times to expect to see Santa near your house!
  • Saturday morning, December 5th, was the place to be for the Annual Alabaster Christmas Parade. The theme "A Hometown Christmas" says it all! Everyone was in the Christmas spirit with the excitement of music, beautiful floats, cars, and trucks adorned with bows, lights and signs, food treats and local businesses, all decorated and enjoying the festivities. Our own Noah Galloway was Grand Marshall and of course Santa Claus was the perfect finishing touch to one of the largest parades in the state of Alabama. If you were there this year, a great time was had by all! If you were not there, come next year! We missed you!
The caring team at Earl's Moving Company is ready and waiting to move you and your business home; local or long distance. Enjoy the holiday season with Earl's Moving Company!
