The Necessary Not So Evil of Cleaning Out to Move...

Earl's Moving Company wants to save you money and time in your local or long distance move.

Are you preparing to move this fall, or perhaps before the end of the year? Even if not planning to downsize, chances are there are items throughout each room of your house that you will not need or want in your new home. You are moving to a fresh new start, don't move unneeded items in, resulting in your new home looking just like your previous home!

Local moving, Alabaster, AL

Go through each room looking in each drawer, cabinet or closet, one at a time. In the kitchen, consider how someone in need may have a better use for an unused small appliance. If you need a little more motivation, click here to read a story of how your extra set of dishes can be a blessing to someone else. Donate gently used and new items to a family in need. Ask for an accountability friend to assist. In the living room, discard used pillows, throws, lamps, and baskets. Consider the size of each piece of furniture and how well it will fit in your new home. Get busy in bedrooms cleaning out unused clothing and shoes. Taking outgrown toys and books to a women's shelter or under privileged daycare frees up your space, helps someone else and you avoid packing one more box.  Looking in the garage? Consider yard equipment you will need for your new yard and outdoor area. If there is extra, donate or have a yard sale to avoid cluttering your new garage with unneeded tools and yard equipment. Will you need all of your current patio furniture and flower pots? If not, sell or donate now rather than after your move.

Avoid packing and moving furniture, artwork and other items that will not match and do not have a home in your new rooms. Selling or donating now will save you extra money, time and effort packing and moving. Only take into your new home the things that you need and make you happy.

Contact the friendly professionals at Earl's Moving Company for more tips and helpful information for your most important move.

It's Fall Ya'll!!

What is your favorite thing about the month of October?? It is officially autumn, whether we like it or not! Some of us are thinking "cold winter days are just around the corner ~ ugh!". But most of us are enjoying cooler temperatures, football, Halloween and perhaps anticipating the holiday season with delicious recipes, extra time with family members, and decorating to the hilt!

Fall Plants by Lowe's
Fall is a great time to move in Alabama. Besides the temperatures being cooler, a new season is an excellent opportunity for a fresh start! Out with the old and in with the new! Whether you are just moving, or are settling in for a new season in your already established palace, be reminded of past traditions, or start new ones this year!

You may have a fire pit and are anxious for friends to visit and mingle around a bright fire! Throw something yummy on the grill. Make your outdoor living area soft and inviting, adding throw pillows and light blankets for cooler evenings.

It's Football Season!! Who knew? With all of the crimson and white, blue and orange, orange and white, red and black...what are your favorite colors and who is your choice mascot? Aubie the Tiger, Alabama Roll Tide Elephant, how about those Florida Gators or Georgia Bulldogs? Perhaps you fancy NFL! There are plenty of teams close to us in the south to choose to support, such as Atlanta and South Carolina, Dolphins and Saints. Whichever your preference, pull out your shakers, prepare some tailgate recipes and enjoy the game!

Who doesn't enjoy Halloween? If you have children, deciding on a costume to wear to Trunk or Treat at your local church or Trick or Treating in your neighborhood will make memories that last a lifetime. Pumpkins, orange lights, candied apples and candy galore are just a few of the decorations and treats for this festive occasion. Halloween begins months of entertaining and catching up with old friends and making new ones.

Here are a few comments from local friends when asked "what is your favorite thing about October?":
  • When the fall air gets cooler and clearer. After the haze during the summer, the fall air is so much clearer and all the colors are so crisp. ~ Brett
  • Cooler weather! ~ Leroy
  • The opportunity to drive with the top open on my vehicle, the crisp fall air in the morning or the moonlight shining through at night. It's also a wonderful time for sports, whether your team is wining or ...not this time! ~ Lynn
  • Halloween! I love it! The ghost stories, the candy, the parties, the decorations and old scary movies. ~ Dave
  • The weather is really nice, the trees change color, new shows are on television, football games are on all day every weekend, and you get to see little kids dress up in their favorite costumes in exchange for a bag full of candy! What could be better? ~ Dennis
