Tips to Finding a Great Moving Company

Earl's Moving Company offers suggestions and questions to ask before choosing a moving company.

So you received that promotion or landed that new job and it means moving out of state. Perhaps you are moving to a larger home in Helena (one of the top 100 places to live in the United States!) that will accommodate your growing family. Let's say all the kids are grown and have their own homes so you want to downsize to a smaller house with much smaller yard and Alabaster is the town you have chosen. Whatever your reason for moving, you will want a reliable, safe moving company who has your best interest, and pocket book, in mind.

When shopping for a moving company, there are a few questions to have in mind to help you choose the best one. Many people in Shelby County choose Earl's Moving Company. Earl Pike grew up in the area and knows it like the back of his hand. Graduating from Thompson High School, then University of Montevallo, there are no worries Earl and his local team know the neighborhoods and area.

Ask friends and family members who have moved about their experience with the moving company they chose. If you are from Shelby County, you are probably familiar with Christian owned Earl's Moving Company. With families of their own, and Shelby County being home, this caring, experienced team will not disappoint.

Think about questions such as; Do you need the moving company to pack your belongings? Do they move in the areas you are moving from and to? Do you have a large piano, pool table or painting that needs special attention? You will be happy to know that Earl's Moving Company has the truck and moving materials that are needed for just about anything imaginable! Give them a call and give them your biggest, most challenging piece of furniture or collectible. Ask if they have ever moved a piece such as yours before and how it will be packed.

Family man Earl Pike and his mindful team are more than happy to answer your questions, ease your worries and make your moving day as stress free as possible. Moving day should be an exciting time, not full of headaches, anticipating arrival at your new home. With Earl's direction you will be prepared and they will handle the rest! Let Earl's move you home!

Stay Green While Moving with Earl's...

Earl's Moving believes in saving our earth when relocating, one box at a time!

When planning to relocate, there are ways to pack, move and stay environmentally friendly! The first step to moving is most likely begin cleaning out. Donate clothes, household items, sports equipment, toys, kitchen items, appliances, outdoor furniture and yard equipment. If you have a large donation, some charities will come to your home to pick up for your convenience. Recycle computers, old cell phones and other electronics. If there are expensive items such as furniture, consider listing it on eBay, Craigslist or have a yard sale. Don't sell or donate old suitcases or bins yet! Use them to pack, saving purchasing boxes then donating after the move.
De-cluttering, Earl's Moving Company
After de-cluttering, let the packing begin! If you plan to pack yourself, rather than spending money on expensive boxes and packing material, consider things you already have. Avoid bubble wrap and packing peanuts by using newspaper, blankets and towels to pack fragile items. This saves extra boxes to pack those things in as well.

If you need to purchase boxes, make sure to purchase only what you need. Attempt to find used boxes that are still in good shape. This is more cost effective and saves tossing good ones after the move. Pack them well, filling all corners and using all space inside each box. Stack baskets and pots and pans, etc. This can save many boxes and trips, which equals money after a long move.

Earl's Moving Company wants to help preserve this amazing earth God has provided for us. The knowledgeable and caring team will work with you, providing the best solutions for your local or long distance move.

Think Outside the Box Tips for a Stress Free Moving Day

Earl's Moving Company encourages thinking outside the box when packing!

Earl's Moving Company can pack and move as much or as little as you need. If you choose to pack any or all of your home, there are a few things that will make your move easier, cheaper and faster!
  • Purchase different colors of tape and sticky notes when preparing to pack. Use a different color to label boxes for each room. It will be easy and fast when unloading to spot a color and direct the blue labels to the kitchen and the green ones to the bathroom.
  • Put all things you will need immediately in clear containers. These may include phone chargers, power outlet strips, tools, utensils, toilet paper, etc... This makes needed items easy to find quickly.
  • Pack a bag with enough medicine and clothes to last a few days. Don't forget your toothbrush!!
  • Leave hanging clothes hanging. Cut a hole in the center of the bottom of a garbage back and slip over several hangers. A few garbage bags later all of your hanging clothes will be ready to easily relocate to your new home.
  • Cover mattresses and box springs with extra fitted sheets prior to movers arriving. This keeps bedding clean during the move.
  • Take pictures of furniture in each room, creating a home inventory. Taking pictures of cords on electronics saves making set up painless. Pictures of artwork arranged on walls is an easy reminder in your new home.
  • Covering tops of drawers with saran wrap or lying towels across the top avoids having to unload dressers, saving time packing and unpacking, as well as boxes as well.
  • Use things you have on hand to pack, saving space and money purchasing fewer packing materials and boxes.
    • Pack glasses and stemware in socks, saving purchasing packing materials.
    • Sandwich bags are perfect for hardware and screws from furniture and electronics. Put the bags in a box or drawer that goes in that room.
    • Remove tops and lids of toiletries and cleaners, wrap saran wrap over opening and replace tops and lids, saving spills and leaks.
  • Fill rolling suitcases with heavy items such as books and magazines, saving heavy lifting.
  • When you arrive at your new home, don't stop at the garage or basement. Assign someone to direct movers to the correct room. Your colored labels will make delegating a breeze!
Use your imagination! Ask the kids for ideas. Be creative! Come up with your own ideas to make moving day as easy as possible! Whether you are moving locally from Alabaster to Birmingham or long distance to Florida or Georgia, Earl's is the moving company you want to trust with all of your belongings.
