Moving in the Good Old Summertime...

Earl's Moving Company will pack and move your personal and business belongings, even in Alabama humidity!

Summer is the busiest time of the year for moving. School is out and people relocate during this downtime. There are a few things to think about during hot summer months that may not be as relevant during cooler months of the year.

Planning ahead is the first step. Since it is the busiest season to move, contact Earl's several weeks ahead of the date to reserve the day. Even if it is close, check with Earl's anyway as there may be cancellations. Try to schedule your move early in the day during the coolest hours.

If you are planning to pack any of your possessions, gather boxes, tape and other supplies early. Spreading the work into several days will assist in summer heat. Pack and label as many boxes several days before Earl's truck arrives. If Earl's will be packing for you, creating an inventory for each room will be helpful when you arrive at your new destination.

Certain items may need special attention as a moving truck will be hot. If it is possible wrap, pack and move candles in the car to avoid melted wax. Musical items such as instruments, DVD's, CD's, and yes, those of us who still have vinyl records and possibly cassettes, should be packed separately and kept in a cooler environment. Other electronics such as computers and laptops may need special attention. Making a list or combining these articles in a room together to load last and unload first will avoid unnecessary stress.

Moving Day has Arrived:
  • Pack a cooler of water to keep you and your family well hydrated
  • Wear light clothing, comfortable shoes and sunscreen
  • Keep an extra change of clothes with you
  • Take short breaks throughout the day and cool off
  • Pack a complete overnight bag so you can shower and enjoy a good night's rest at the end of the day
Heat stroke is a real danger in summer moving. With these tips and preparation, Earl's Moving Company can make summer moving a breeze!
